International Trademark Association 138th Annual Meeting

This year the 138th International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting was held in the City of Orlando between May 21st and May 25th.  This event has the objective to gather experts in trademarks as well as intellectual property matters.  For such purpose the INTA organizes activities such as round tables, educational sessions as well as the opportunity for professionals in Intellectual Property to meet and discuss the new trends to protect trademarks around the world.

Between the most important matters discuss were the global situation regarding counterfeit products and the challenges that the authorities have to battle against this acts of intellectual property infractions.  For such purpose the INTA organized round tables to discuss and approach such matters and in the future have a follow up in each region organizing local activities with the purpose of get as a result options for the authorities to battle against this global problem that affects both trademark owners as well as customers.

They were also activities such as meetings between lawyers to analyze the problems and/or situation in each region and country for trademark registrations offices to concretize ideas to suggest the offices in order to have better and more efficient processes for trademark registrations.

Alejandro del Valle from QIL + 4 Abogados participated in this event as the responsible for the Intellectual Property Department from the office and assisted to such activities organized by the INTA.
