Relevant Information: Public Energy Bidding in Guatemala

We hereby inform you that Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala, S.A. (EEGSA), the authorized distributor of energy for the districts of Guatemala, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez of the Republic of Guatemala, has launched a bidding process titled “Open Bidding EEGSA-2-2019”, through which it is seeking offers for the supply of up to 120 Megawatts of contracted power and its related energy, to cover the demand of the final users of the distribution service.

 The term of the supply agreement will be of 5 seasonal years, beginning on February 21, 2020 and ending on April 30, 2025. In the bidding process, power plants of any technology may participate, whether they are already operating or are about to begin operations. New power plants may choose to begin the supply, as of May 1, 2021.

The cost of acquiring the bidding terms is between US$ 7,000 – US$ 12,000, depending on whether the interested offeree generates renewable energy or not and of its installed capacity of generation.
